  1. I believe that mass media has a huge impact on almost everyone these days. Mass media can be a great help to future generations in educating and in the 21 century offers a number of jobs. Although many good could come out of it, I think that there is a bad influence to it. There are many people that use mass media for evil motives and can lead to many insecurities and sometimes even crime -- Sabeeha 9G

  4. Media has made modern life very easy. We are updated almost every minute, thanks to modern media. Media includes everything we use nowadays in our modern life. You don’t need to visit a library when you have a computer. Modern mobile phones also have certain apps, by using them you don’t have to use a computer. Life has become quick and every piece of information is a click away. In olden times, it was very difficult to connect to your family members abroad. Nowadays, you have certain apps which allow you to talk to them face to face. I believe this is just the starting of the wonders of media, there’s more to the picture.

  5. The Mass Media is a unique feature of the modern society - a society that completely depends on information and communication. Large amounts of our time are spent in a range of media related activities.
A look at current research shows that we spend from 18 to 35 hours per week watching TV. It helps promoting the right things on right time. It gives a real exposure to the mass audience about what is happening in a person’s surroundings and it helps to develop skills of enquiry and communication, as well.

  8. Media plays a major role and has a huge impact on our lives. It’s a great way to know what’s going on every day.
Newspapers, television, magazines & the internet are some different types of sources to the media.
The media can be used to know what is going on around the world in a matter of seconds, but not only is it a great source of information but it is also a great source of communication; you can communicate with people all around the world.
The media has its advantages but to every good there is a bad.
Media can affect people in many ways, it can cause violence & children might spend too much time using the internet or watching television which distracts them from their studies.
Media is a great thing if used in the right way.

  10. The mass media, including TV, radio, newspapers play a very important role in our modern life. It is considered as the best way to know what’s happening in our world today. It greatly affects our lives because media has the power to change our thoughts. There is sometimes positive and sometimes negative. For eg: - Media can make people do things very violent because of what they see on T.V or the games they play. So the children are more aggressive, less trusting and more violent towards people because of these things. Media is the best way to spread information and news from one part of the world to the other. There are education programs to help people to learn anything through internet, television and radio. Children can improve their skills and education by watching these programs because it is easy to learn stuff that is interesting.

  11. In my opinion, mass media has a direct effect on modern culture. The moods and attitudes of our society are influenced by messages delivered through mass media channels as they affect our actions, thoughts, and values. For instance, phones weren’t much to the interest of people before. But now, due to the variety and range of the advertisements, the market for iPhones, Blackberry, iPads etc. has increased rapidly. The media is what has this effect on them. It is what has changed our point of view towards things. There are also cons to this topic, such as bad influence and addiction which can affect student academically.
If we look back at the history, we will notice that there wasn’t much of a modern influence in the society. That’s why it is called “The olden times” by many. The reason to this is the fact that the level of media then, was less saturated that the one now. Everyone agrees that mass media is a permanent part of modern culture and so do I. “Society controls Mass media and vice-versa.”

  12. In my opinion, the mass media, including TV, radio, newspapers play a very important role in our modern life. First, the mass media affect people's fashion by wearing something that looks similar to what famous singers or actors have worn recently. Second, we cannot deny that the mass media have a great contribution to shaping our ways of thinking. What we watch on TV, radio: what we read in newspaper and magazines affects us, with a great deal to our thinking. Third, it is obvious that the mass media also play an important role in our attitude to life as children are exposed to incontrollable websites where there are plenty of disasters. In addition, it keeps you informed in the latest news, different events, home and foreign affairs, news of culture, science and engineering development. It performs a few functions: informative, entertaining, and commercial & is addressed to people of different political views & different stations in life. Every sociological theory concludes that mass media affects modern culture–a mediated culture.

  13. In the last five decades or so, the media and its influence on the societies, has grown exponentially with the advance of technology. First there was the telegraph and the post offices, then the radio, the newspaper, magazines, television and now the internet and the new media including palmtops, cell phones etc. There are positive and negative influences of mass media, which we must understand as a responsible person of a society. Firstly, the mass media is to expand our understanding about environment. There are a huge number of environmental programs on television which provides numerous viewers with explanation of what environment is and how important it is. Without these programs, hardly many citizens comprehend the reasons why we have to the Earth. Another argument is that television, radio and newspapers intensify our knowledge about social issues and have significant influence on our attitude towards these problems. In conclusion, we have absolutely no control over the media. However, we do have the final decision on the path we choose to take. The extent of the power mass media is able to influence us only reaches this far, the rest is really still within our control.
