Year 7 G 1: The art of aging gracefully
The poemMirror portrays that growing old is scary.
We all will grow old some day. What are your thoughts and
emotions on aging and growing old?
Youth. I don't seek it through another because I have it within; it's a state of mind, a spirit that is free, and a mind that is playful. The shell of my being is altered by the effects of time, but nothing will tarnish a soul that will never forget what its like to experience creation with endless wonder and appreciation. Each time I see the first snowfall of the season I feel it's the first time I've seen it at allYouth. I don't seek it through another because I have it within; it's a state of mind, a spirit that is free, and a mind that is playful. The shell of my being is altered by the effects of time, but nothing will tarnish a soul that will never forget what its like to experience creation with endless wonder and appreciation. Each time I see the first snowfall of the season I feel it's the first time I've seen it at all.
The thought of aging does not trouble me. At some point I have to accept the fact that I am growing old. So for now I have to live my life being young.
As we grow older, we tend to become more emotionally stable. Chances are, you depend on many people for emotional support. It may be your parents, or good close friends. Although it is possible to continue to depend on these people for the rest of your life, it is in your best interest to realize that everyone in your life that you depend on will one day no longer be around. Some will move away. Just because you deserve something does not mean you will get it. You may be the perfect student, yet your professor may still fail you.
Growing up is a huge deal!! Getting wrinkles and changing in how you look but the fact of growing up doesn't annoy or disturb me because everyone will grow up, yet when you are young you can have more fun in your life and do a lot of achievements but when you grow older you have to stick to a routine of work, But growing older is a big deal.
The only worry that I have in life which is linked to ageing will be not being able to accomplish or achieve my ambitions and goals. People may worry about ageing because of health problems and especially looks. But people have to accept the fact that it will happen someday. So instead of worrying about the future, live for today as you never know what faith has in store for you!!! I personally, live by the motto: Live for today because there might not be a tomorrow.
The thought that I am aging sometimes scares me and sometimes doesn’t. I know that on some point I have to grow but I even have a fright that I will not stay beautiful. I sometimes even think that I should live my life without any fright or any preconceptions. I even want to do many adventurous things so I have to forget that how I am looking.
Aging. This is a part of life that we should all accept. No one really looks forward to growing old and welcoming the wrinkles but we should all accept this. Life would not be complete if we didn’t go through that phase of growing old. As a person grows older they become more emotionally stable. But the bad side of growing old is the weakening of the body. Overall what we all need to understand is that growing old is a part of life and we don’t need to be afraid of it.
I don’t have any problems about aging mainly because I will have to be old one and now when I am young I can enjoy the days so I can have special memories about my youth. Sometimes I do feel a little scared about aging but then I say that everyone who is old must’ve gone through this and they have taken it very maturely and that what I should do.
As we grow older, if we allow ourselves, we can "experience a new sense of personal freedom and relief at letting go of others' expectations and society's conventional definition of female beauty. Many of us fear growing older. We assume that advanced age is a time of degeneration, when physical and mental qualities are in sharp decline. We fail to recognize the energy, vitality, wisdom, and deep beauty possible in these later years.
Getting older; feels that you’re getting more mature but there are physical changes that may occur but still… we all have to enjoy are youth and make most of it!
“I’m always happy to see women reclaiming age. We have to figure out what it means on our own, questioning everything that society tells us. This is work that all are doing, just as we’re reclaiming our gender expression and our spiritual practices. In a still male-dominated society, an aging woman is seen through male eyes. No longer a traditional gender objects, and so derided? But also feared, because of some very ancient conditioning.
The thought of growing old can sometimes be scary but growing old is a part of life. We have many years before old age and we should use them wisely and live to the fullest. We shouldn't regret missing out of anything fun and adventurous but instead we should be happy that we’re still alive and think about the people who have only struggled from childhood to old age.
Aging is another stage in life which you have to accept. Growing gracefully and gradually the time shall come for ageing but now it’s the time to have fun and enjoy life. It’s no big deal aging or growing up its life and there is no way you can alter it. Thinking about aging is not going to help us get anywhere so why worry about it when nothing’s going to happen. So don’t worry about the future when you haven’t lived the present?
The thought of being old does not bother me at all, because in one point of my life, I have to accept the fact that, I am growing old and losing the youth inside me. I feel a bit depressed because some of the things that, I do now; will not be able to do later in life. The impact of being old physically will definitely upset me. Looking at my grandparents being so happy and positive. I feel that, I will be happy and positive in a different way in that stage, but before I reach that level, let me enjoy my life as a young girl.
We all have to grow old someday. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but someday we have to. Growing old is a part of life. We do face a lot of problems and issues but I think it will be another interesting phase of life. We still have enough time so I think that we should enjoy it to the fullest.
In order to embrace the midlife phase of our life, we must let go of old, limiting thoughts about age that have been impressed upon us from the time we were children, passed down through generations. As we grow older, if we allow ourselves, we can "experience a new sense of personal freedom and relief at letting go of others' expectations .As Albert Einstein said, “I live in that solitude which is painful in youth, but delicious in the years of maturity.”
Okay. Aging. When it comes to aging, the first thought that strikes your mind is face. Will I be pretty or not? Will I be loved by everyone? But the fact is you have to agree on growing old. Because you can never stay young. The more you apply foundation and cream the older and wrinkly you will get. So its better that you stick with your face becoming dull and hanging down because one day everyone is gonna be old. And just keep a thought in your mind that ‘’ I am pretty just the way I am’’.
Growing old does not bother me. I believe that while I am growing up, I will face a lot of changes that would prove that at some time in my life I have to accept the fact that I am growing old. But that does not stop me from having a free, yet a mature mind. I honestly believe that growing old is like a journey, we learn lessons on the way that help us to become a more mature adult but until then I am going to enjoy my life being young.
The thought of growing does scares me, but I think we should all just do what is there with us now and be happy. I enjoyed the poem very much and realized that we all have to grow at some point in life and I think that we should enjoy this moment we have with us. So live and life and don’t be scared for what life brings to you. We need to show the world that being old is not about getting what you want and being independent, it means to have responsibility, getting work on time, stop being so lazy and always be firm. But I think that if we do that we will never know what fun is and maybe the quote “There is a child in everyone.” Will maybe stop being there if we don’t stop acting like adults?
The art of aging gracefully is to fully accept that you are and not be resentful and frustrated by the way you are changing and how you look when you glance at your mirror, its a privilege usually denied by others. To me aging means finding yourself and your true personality.
Ageing or getting old does not scare me or get me worried, but it does make me ready to appreciate myself in any manner, and I may not have the same childish innocence and understand about my looks, I will be much more concerned about my appearance but at the same time I am excited to grow old so I can accomplish my goals and have more experiences. Though I will handle my new changes and challenges maturely, and it is a fact that we are getting old.
