  1. The sun symbolizes hope, freedom and warmth; it represents something necessary in all their lives. I think the effect would be severe as many people would have lost hope and would have given up as they would never be able to see the sun again and would never feel its heat. The advancement of technology would have improved drastically and immensely as living on another planet would be possible and flooding would be stopped.

  2. The sun symbolizes hope in the story. The hope that they can return to Earth, The hope that the sun will come out for longer. Everybody on Venus is very gloomy because there is hardly any sun There are no blooming flowers, no green trees. Basically nothing to cheer them up. As the author has shown that people have been able to inhabit Venus suggests that there is technology far beyond what we have in today’s date

  3. The sun symbolizes something very important in this story. It represents peace and freedom because it rains for a very long time that makes Venus very dark and gloomy, so when the sun appears it makes it brighter. Not seeing the sun for long makes people sorrowful .Technology is very different and new because it has something that might never be done as they travel to Venus which is almost impossible in the present day.

  4. in this story the sun may be symbolized as an opportunity that we get just once in a life time .
people would have a hard time not seeing the sun, People would find sitting in the dark more comfortable and may adapt to that situation. They may even forget what the sun might have looked like, what colour was it? .the story suggests us to improve in technology to create such a future, even beyond the limit of science and further .

  5. The sun symbolizes happiness and joy; this is because the people of Venus haven’t seen the sun for years 7 years, they have forgotten the feeling of warm sunlight touching their skin. The people who haven’t seen the sun for a long period of time have their mental health affected; they become angry, depressed, sorrowful, etc. The story suggests that in the future we humans shall have made technological advancements which will enable us to live on other planets.

  6. The sun is a flower that blooms. It reminds her of the hope for the future, that she and her parents will one day return to Earth; in fact, they may return within the year because Margot misses it. Without the Sun they’d be not much of greenery. Due to the harmful effects on Earth people shifted to Venus, and have a safer life. So the Sun means a lot to everyone.

  7. The sun symbolizes joy to their life. They mean the sun is great. The long term effect is that they might forget the beauty of the sun and the shape and brightness of it in there world. The advance technology is that they have sunbaths to absorb the heat of the sun .The have better heaters than our world. The houses are made waterproof. Lights are made in good quality as it would be dark.

  8. The sun symbolizes hope to the children because a sun is a boys best alternative than sitting on a computer because when the sun is out the kids play outside football, cricket.without the sun you have a huge part of life ripped out of you. the sun may represent many things for eg. Parents, family. The long term affects are less vitaminD.I think going to another planet with different things than earth will ruin your life.

  9. The sun symbolizes a sign of hope, happiness and an end to depression. The sun is more than just its physicalities, it is something planet Venus has been waiting for years. It brings joy to the people of Venus. Without the sun and just rain everyday will cause boredom , and you have nothing to do. A long term effect would be boredom and sometimes psychological issues. Rockets, can be used to move from one planet to another.

  10. I think that the sun symbolizes joy and cheerfulness in this story. The effect on people having no sunshine would be that people might get depressed, and would also live a dull and boring life. People will also never experience happiness; they would never experience weather change. The story mentions something about a sun bath which the children get a feel of how the sun is like so living on other planets can be possible. By -Gabriel Alphonsus 9B

  11. In this story, I believe the sun represents much more than just a beacon in the sky. It represents the actual embodiment of hope and happiness. Such a long time without the sun has had a very detrimental long-term effect on the people, and this can be seen by the children, who live and breathe the very idea of the sun, especially Margot, who saw the sun as a child.

  12. What the sun might symbolize in the story as a very important thing in Venus it is a symbol for them and hope. The long term effects could be depression for not seeing the sun for a long time, sickness because of no absorption of minerals needed for the body to function. What the story suggest about the advanced technology is that it can be improved even more further can pushing science beyond its limits.

  13. The sun symbolizes hope in the story, it is the hope that the people of Venus are waiting for in their life. There was no sun so they had never seen nor ever smelled the beautiful flowers. The people of Venus would lack a lot of vitamin D so their bones will be really weak, they had to take some precautions before going into the sun. The technology had gone so advanced that people could even breathe on Venus.

  14. The sun symbolizes hope and joyfulness and is like a flaming bronze penny it also symbolizes quiet silence from the pouring rain. The effect of never seeing the sun will make people sad as the shining bright star does not shine the rays on the people and have the same dark days of pouring rain. Technology is very different because it has something that might never be done [travelling to Venus] in the present day

  15. The sun symbolizes the sun's roundness and "flaming bronze" to a "penny," and its warmth to "a fire in the stove. I think the sun is a flower that blooms for just one hour. Their minds would be filled with darkness they would have never experienced warmness the advance technology in the story suggest that allows them to live on Venus is that there must be spaceships or rockets which allow them to travel from Earth to Venus.

  16. I think that the sun symbolizes joy and cheerfulness in this story. Without joy and happiness, people would live a dull and boring life. People would never experience true happiness. They could never have a change if the weather always remained the same. They would also have a sick life. The story says that technology is rapidly advancing and soon, there could be technology that would have the capability to take us to Venus.

  17. The sun serves as symbols for a variety of things in Ray Bradbury's story, "All Summer in a Day." For Margot, it is a reminder of her happier days on Earth, before her family has relocated to Venus. In her poem, she writes thatI think the sun is a flower, That blooms for just one hour. A person would be sad very sad if he did not see the sun and there would always be paleness and dullness due to the continues rain which symbolizes sadness but the sun symbolizes happiness and venus is very dark and gloomy Margot wanted too see the sun. technology must be advanced
    1. People traveling in Venus which is not easy nowadays
    2. The sun lamps the children used in the story

  18. “I think the sun is a flower that blooms for just one hour.” The sun also symbolizes a quiet silence that is always absent due to the constant, heavy rain. The Long term effect is that the children and women of Venus have never experienced the warmth of the sun, so they released their inner captive when they were finally able to play outside. they use sun bath machine to get the warmth of the sun.

  19. The sun represents a symbol of hope. If people were never to see the sun again, it would mean an endless depression for however long. It could also mean that people might lose hope in everything else. It’s impossible for me to think that the sun were never to rise. The story suggests about Sun lamps. Sun lamps are a substitute for Sunlight, it would mean hours under the sun lamps to keep us healthy.

to Margot. She had not seen the sun since seven years. Everybody on Venus is so gloomy because they haven't seen the sun. there are no flowers, no trees, just the pounding rain which
    would never stop.

  22. I think the sun symbolizes happiness and joy. The long term effect would probably be that people would forget how the warmth of the sun felt and how the sun looked. If there was no sun it would be a dark world and people would fall sick ad there would be no plants as plants would die with no sun light as they need it to photosynthesize. The story shows us that technology In the future would allow us to live on other planets

  23. The sun symbolizes hope in the story. It has not been raining in Venus for seven years. If a person is not used to the sun, that person might feel suffocated under the sun. They forgot how it looks like. All they remember is that it looks like a lemon. The children have a sun bath in a ray of light. Advanced technology in the future might allow us to live in Venus and talk to other people over there.

  26. A place I would like to get lost in would be in the Himalayan Mountains. Though, having no any idea whatsoever of my surroundings due to lack of guidance, I would have to wander wherever I please. So the places I would choose would be what the name boasts of, the snow-covered mountains. Carrying a fresh supply of food, water and other necessities, I would roam dreamily along the stony roads and hills, like a vagabond, and befriend with folk dwelling there. My life would be free of all tensions.
