Year 8 B 1: 'Sherlock' Holmes meets 'Harry Potter': Which Hogwarts houses do Moriarty, John Mc Murdo and John Watson belong to?

Ever wondered, what would happen if our favorite detective woke up on his thirty eighth birthday to find a magical letter from a magical owl promising to jet him off to a magical place where there's magic?
To which respective Hogwarts house would you assign the detective and the other characters in the famous Harry Potter series? Where do you think they would be most at home?

  1. I feel that Moriarty should be in the Slytherin house because most of the ruthless people are in this house. According to me John Watson should be in Gryffindor house because the worthy people belong to this house. John McMurdo should belong in the Ravenclaw house because he is just an ordinary man.

  4. If Sherlock Holmes, mcmurdo, moriarty and Watson went to Hogwarts school of wizardry. I would assign Sherlock Holmes to hufflepuff, Moriarty to slytherin, Mcmurdo to Gryffindor and Watson to Ravenclaw . I put moriarty to slytherin because he is evil. And I put mcmurdo to griffindor because he is the main character.

  5. I would put ‘The Great Sherlock Holmes’ in the house, Griffindor because he is very smart and a nice guy. If you see the other team, Slytherin they’re all mean and rough. Now about Moriarity, I would put him in Slytherin because he’s very bad, in other words he’s evil! Now coming to John Mc Murdo, I would put him in Gryffindor because he’s more of good than bad. At first he’s a little bad but at last he becomes a good man. John Watson would be put in Gryffindor.

  6. I think that Proffesor Moriarty and John Mcmurdo would belong to the Slytherin house because they both are criminals and the other people in that house have the similar characteristics. However Watson would belong to Gryffindor since they have good hearts and are always looking to help people.

I think that Professor Moriarty will belong to the Slytherin house because all miserable people belong to that house. Sherlock should be in Gryffindor because he is a high standard person and he’s also a high minded person. Mc Murdo is an ordinary person so he should belong to Ravenclaw.

    1. How do you know that Moriarty was miserable? He's smart and cunning and not miserable! It's not even mention in the books for gods sake!

  10. Moriarty is perfect in Slytherin as he is smart and cunning. John Watson could be put in Hufflepuff because he is kind and loyal to Holmes. Sherlock Holmes would obviously be a Ravenclaw. 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure'. And he does possess it! by terence

  11. I think that James Mc Murdo should belong to the Gryffindor house because this house show cleverness and anxiety and kidnapping. Harry potter belongs to the Ravenclaw because it shows kindness and justice. Voldemort should belong to the Slytherin house because it shows devious the character is.

  13. Sherlock is a conundrum of a man: brilliant, yet lacking the ambition of power, before meeting John Watson his main motivation in life was simply to avoid boredom. And though he is still our favorite high-functioning sociopath, through John's guidance and his growing friendships with the lovable Mrs. Hudson, Lustrate, and Molly, Sherlock is learning to embrace humanity and all its quirks. A true original, Sherlock embraces the Raven claw sense of curiosity and thirst for the truth. He fears being seen as ordinary, and he relishes in proving he is the smartest man in the room.

Watson is crippled by monotony and yearns for an adventure to get his blood boiling. It's because of his adventurous spirit that he's willing to put up with Sherlock's condescending attitude and erratic behavior. Though Watson sometimes pretends to find Sherlock's behavior grating, he actually gets a real kick from his pal's antics, and like any real Gryffindor, Watson enjoys the feeling of superiority that comes from being "The Chosen One" amongst the piles of ordinary mortals his brilliant buddy has discarded. Determined, loyal, daring, brave, (and like all great Gryffindor’s, sometimes a little bit stupid), John sticks by Sherlock through thick and thin, refusing to believe the worst in his friend, even when the evidence is all tallied up against him.

Moriaty: This master manipulator may not seek power in the most conventional ways, but that's only because he thinks most human beings to be below his worth in noticing. Resourceful, clever and a natural leader, Moriarty is determined to do whatever he can to keep his life interesting, and since life itself offers little excitement for him, the only thing that can really give him any thrill is toying with Sherlock Holmes.

  15. I think that Sherlock Holmes will be happy to visit the magical land of Hogwarts on his birthday. Our opinion is that we should put him in Gryffindor. It will be a sign to power and the hope to never give up representing fire.
John Watson should be sent to Ravenclaw which will be the sign of intelligence and partnership also representing air.
Moriarty is cunning and resourceful but evil, so we suppose that he should be sent to Slytherin which represents water.
McMurdo is a very interesting character which shows the sign of hard work and patience. I think he should be sent to Hufflepuff representing Earth.

  17. Sherlock Holmes the great detective meets by the mighty wizard Harry potter. They met in the coffee shop about 10 blocks away from Hogwarts. I would put Sherlock in ‘Ranenclaw’ because he is a brilliant thinker yet lacking the ambition of power. I would put Moriarty in ‘Slytheren’ because he may not seek power in the most conventional ways. I would Put Mc Murdo in Gryffindor because he is detective with a wicked sense of humor would put Watson in Hufflepuff because he is a great partner.

  18. John Mc Murdo I would put him in the Slytheren (in the green house). As shown in "A Study in Pink," Watson is crippled by monotony and yearns for an adventure to get his blood boiling I would put John Watson in Hufflepuff (the yellowhouse).” No one ever gets to me... and no one ever will." – Moriarty, I would put Moriaty in Slytherin (the green house)

  19. Well Sherlock Holmes should be sent to Gryffindor along with Watson since they are the good guys . Moriarity in Slytheren since he is the bad guy cause most of the bad guys were in Slytheren. Mc Murdo in Hufflepuff since he is a neutral person.
