Year 5 B 1; Decision Making

Your teacher introduces Eric, a new student, to the class. Eric is from another country. His way of speaking and sense of dressing are different from the rest of his new classmates. At lunch, Eric sits alone. You notice that. But many of your classmates think Eric is weird because of his clothes and the way he talks. What should you do?

Write a paragraph explaining what you think you should do in the "Post a comment" section below.

  1. I would try to be his friend but it would be a bit uncomfortable for me due to his accent, but after sometime I would try to adjust. I would tell everyone to befriend him. As it is unfair for a child to be alone. I would also give him some food so he can eat something new. I will invite him to play with me during recess

  3. I would feel sad and it would be unfair that a boy my age was left alone so I would go up to Eric and sit with him and start a conversation with him and ask him if he would like to have some of food, then I would invite him to play with us and listen to how he used to play in his country.

  4. I would try to start a conversation and share some food with him because you can not judge a person by his accent or the clothes he wears it is his personality that should be good

  6. Eric is from Sweden and I would invite him over to play. I would show him around the school .I would share my food with him if he does not have food. If anyone makes fun of him I would stand up to the bully who is annoying him. If he needs any help I will assist him. It is not fair to make fun of others because their accent or the way they dress.

  9. I would sit with him at recess, ask him random questions and be friends with him, introduce him to my friends so that he wont feel lonely anymore and well play together in the playground. Its not nice to judge people from their accents, the way he dresses and the way he looks its about the personality. If the personality is good then he is also good.I would like to learn kung-fu from him and learn how to use the chopsticks. by dineth dulwan kasthuriarachchi

  19. I don’t like people who sit alone without friends. I will go to him and ask him some interesting questions that makes him comfortable and teach him the language that we speak. When he is familiar with the language I will introduce my friends and myself. I will tell him to come and play with us. After he becomes more friendly I will invite him every Thursday to my house to have tea and to talk with me.

  23. Eric is from France and because of his accent and his way of clothing kids make fun of him. I would go next to him and try talking to him so he can feel better. I would ask him a few question about France and introduce Eric to my friends so he doesn’t feel lonely and sad. Kids sniggered him and I used to feel bad. If he looks weird does not mean he is mean. If you do not judge a book by a cover, why do you judge people by their looks ?
